Marci Kanstoroom was a research fellow at the Hoover Institution until 2008.

Kanstoroom is an executive editor at Education Next. She specializes in education reform.

Kanstoroom's recent writings include "Do Charter Schools Do It Differently?" with Hoover fellow Chester E. Finn Jr., Phi Delta Kappan, September 2002; "Balancing Act," Education Next, fall 2001; and "Improving, Empowering, Dismantling," with Finn, Public Interest, summer 2000.

With Finn, she coedited New Directions: Federal Education Policy in the Twenty-First Century (Thomas B. Fordham Foundation, 1999) and Better Teachers, Better Schools (Thomas B. Fordham Foundation, 1999). With Finn and Michael J. Petrilli, she coedited The Quest for Better Teachers: Grading the States (Thomas B. Fordham Foundation, 1999).

She has testified on education issues before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science and the Subcommittee on Postsecondary Education.

Kanstoroom holds a B.A. in political science from Yale University and a Ph.D. in government from Harvard University, where she studied political philosophy and American government.
