COLLECTIONS Audiovisual Services
Access to audiovisual materials requires at least two weeks advance notice. Audiovisual materials include sound recordings, video recordings, and motion picture film. Hoover staff will determine whether use copies of the materials requested can be made available. Some materials may not be accessible even with advance notice. Photographs and audiovisual materials are protected by copyright law (Title 17 U.S. Code). The Hoover Institution Archives does not own copyrights in most of its materials.
The user is responsible for obtaining permission from the copyright owner.
A signed form, "Conditions governing the acceptance of audiovisual reproduction orders" must accompany payment to initiate a reproduction order. Please contact us for a copy of this form.
General Information about Payment for Reproductions
Payment in advance is required. All payments must be in currency payable through a U.S. bank. No wire transfers. Please make check payable to Hoover Institution Archives. Send orders to Hoover Institution Archives, Stanford University, 434 Galvez Mall, Stanford CA 94305-6010, USA, Attention: [Brandon Burke or Janel Quirante].
Prices are subject to change without notice.
California sales tax will be added for will-call and orders shipped to California addresses.
The Hoover Institution Archives is not responsible for orders lost in the mail.

Note: The term "item" refers to a single physical unit. In other words, a recording long enough to occupy two reels will cost the user $100 (2 x 50 = 100).
Deliverable formats: CD-R, DVD-R, cassette.
Rush orders (in the mail in 5 business days) are two times the original cost.

Reproduction Costs for Photographs
The Hoover Institution Archives can supply black-and-white and color copy prints, slides and digital images of the historical photographs in its possession. All requests for reproductions of photographs are filled in the order they are received. Please allow four to six weeks for processing. While every effort is made to complete orders promptly, the Hoover Institution's own photographic work may take precedence.
