In conjunction with the centenary of the Russian revolution of 1905, an international conference, "Jews and Russian Revolutions," is being held at Stanford during November 6-7, 2005. Jointly sponsored by the Taube Center for Jewish Studies, the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (CREEES), the Hoover Institution (all located at Stanford University), and the International Center for Russian and East European Jewish Studies in Moscow, the conference brings together a dozen scholars to consider the involvement of Jews in the turbulent events of 1905-1917 and the effects of that turmoil on Jewish culture and politics in Russia and beyond.

This display, developed by David Jacobs of the Hoover Institution Archives in collaboration with Professors Gabriella Safran and Steven J. Zipperstein of Stanford University, illustrates some of the conference's themes.
