The Koret-Taube Task Force on National Security and Law met at the Hoover Institution on Thursday, January 5, 2012, to discuss the pressing challenges the United States confronts as it seeks, consistent with the Constitution and the international laws of war, to defend the nation and, where necessary, wage war. Peter Berkowitz, chair of the task force, led the meeting, which included presentations by task force members Ken Anderson and Matthew Waxman on the law and ethics of robot soldiers and guest presenters Gabriella Blum (Harvard Law School) on miniature and invisible weapons and Jeremy Rabkin (George Mason Law School) on taking the offensive against cyber threats. Retired Admiral Gary Roughead, Hoover’s Annenberg Distinguished Visiting Fellow, and National Security Affairs fellows Mark Cassayre and Lieutenant Colonels Michael Chandler and Matteo Martemucci also attended the meeting.
