Juan Domingo and Eva Duarte Perón as portrayed on a 1950 calendar issued by the Argentine government. The portrait epitomizes the official cult of personality surrounding the couple. Eva died in 1952, having attracted both enormous popularity, as someone promoting social welfare programs for the poor in Argentina, and enormous controversy, as a close associate of her husband.
