Examines societal behavior on the basis of individuals rather than groups, thus confronting issues of, for example, race, gender, and ethnicity; the role of culture and values in society; and the interaction of wealth distribution policies, such as social welfare and social security, with demographic and cultural trends and individual responsibility.
