Hoover Signs Digital Storage Agreement with Stanford ITS

Stanford Information Technology Systems (ITS) is the new storage site for the archives’ eighty-two terabytes of digital historical materials under an agreement signed in April. Those materials cover a wide range of twentieth-century history, including digitized World War II radio broadcasts and film footage, digital copies of Soviet KGB files, and born-digital photographs of US National Guard units deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gary Becker, an esteemed economist, the Rose-Marie and Jack R. Anderson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, and Nobel laureate passed away on May 3, 2014. Best known for his work in labor economics, Becker studied human behavior and social circumstances previously regarded as insignificant to economics, such as family choices, home life, and discrimination. He had been affiliated with the Hoover Institution since 1973 and a senior fellow there since 1990.

Hoover senior fellow and Nobel laureate Gary Becker passed away on May 3, 2014. A groundbreaking economist who studied human capital and the economics of human behavior, he is one of two scholars to receive both the Nobel Prize and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States. Two Hoover senior fellows elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences 2014 class

The American Academy of Arts and Sciences, an honorary society that recognizes achievement in the natural sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities, has elected Hoover senior fellows William Damon and Shanto Iyengar to their class of 2014 for their work as “champion[s] of scholarship, civil dialogue, and useful knowledge.” Founded in 1780, it is one of the nation’s oldest learned societies and independent policy research centers.
