Because of their national spirit, Edmund Burke cautioned Parliament in his 1775 “Speech on Conciliation,” the Americans’ opposition to taxation without representation required “an unusual degree of care and calmness.” The growth of the population and the colonies’ outsized commercial contribution to the British empire by themselves counseled every reasonable effort to compromise.

In his American Greatness column “The doctrine of media untruth,” Victor Davis Hanson lays down a highly useful rule of opposites: As a general rule, when the New York Times, the Washington Post, National Public Radio, Public Broadcasting Service, NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, and CNN begin to parrot a narrative, the truth often is found in simply believing just the opposite.

Four Reasons Republicans Should Support Aid For State And Local Governments

by Michael J. Petrilli, Chad L. Aldisvia Flypaper (Fordham Education Blog)

Back in March, the coronavirus pandemic led to a rare outbreak of a different sort, as bipartisanship returned to Capitol Hill. Unfortunately, unlike COVID-19, that phenomenon has proved fleeting, as Democrats and Republicans are back to bickering again as they debate the next phase of the federal response.

Is It A Game Or Is It Real? Simulations And Wargaming In Cyber

In the summer of 2002, the United States Armed Forces conducted the Millennium Challenge (MC02), a three-week exercise simulating a military confrontation between “Blue” forces, the United States, and “Red” forces, a fictitious formidable Persian Gulf state. Consisting of computer simulations and live exercises, the joint, 13,000-person, $250 million wargame’s objective was to put the United States military’s “transformation”––a shift toward more network-centric operations––to the test.

China is winning, American leadership is a deadly shambles. Then, China’s early failures, lies, and finger pointing have provoked a fierce global backlash, while America’s governors and laboratories inspire hope. Autocracies are the winners, democracies the losers. However, democracies are using their advantages, and autocracies have flopped. Singapore showcased its superior governance model; Singapore inflicted upon itself a second wave outbreak (by ignoring its essential migrant labor force).

Central Bank Printing Presses Might Be In Overdrive, But Inflation Is Not The Real Threat Here

A few weeks ago I thought it would be a great time to upgrade my SUV, so I listed it as a private sale. A couple of days later I had a bite, but it was quite unusual and a very surprising offer — a bag full of 1 oz gold bars. Since I didn’t have a testing kit on me, I decided to pass but it really got me thinking: would the next offer be a digital wallet full of bitcoin?
