The Libertarian: The Cohen Raid

Brazil’s Supreme Court has evolved into the new locus of Brazilian patrimonialism, reproducing historical patterns of concentrated, entrenched power. This development can be traced to institutional choices embedded in the state’s 1988 constitution, compounded by judicial self-expansion and political acquiescence.

I chaired Britain’s All-Party-Parliamentary Commission Report on the October 7 massacres, which detailed each of the 1,182 deaths that took place that day. It became very clear to me while doing that, and also while visiting kibbutzim and the Nova Festival site in southern Israel, that Hamas had very deliberately fostered the sheer frenzy that was seen during its 48-hour-long killing spree on October 7 and 8, 2023.

The message of his principled stand is to hold leaders accountable—but also ourselves.
