The Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Historical Recording Description Project, a hybrid effort whereby crowdsourcing augments established agreements with partner institutions, produced its 500th description this week. The project, which soft-launched in January 2016, seeks to provide English-language content summaries for over 5,500 (and counting!) digitized radio broadcasts from the RFE/RL collections. More are on the way via agreements with the National Library of Latvia and the Slavic Languages & Literatures Department at the University of Kansas as an international network of volunteers continues work in other languages.

Hoover's Digital Collections portal is the place to look for updated descriptions in the following language services: Belarus, Bulgarian, Czechoslovak, Kazakh, Latvian, Lithuanian, South Slavic, Tatar-Bashkir and Ukrainian
