Archivist

In October Hoover archivist Issayas Tesfamariam presented a lecture–in three languages!–entitled "Ficre Ghebreyesus: A City with a River Running Through" at the Museum of the African Diaspora in San Francisco. Ghebreyesus was an Eritrean poet, artist, chef, entrepreneur, and a progressive who fought for social justice, liberation, education, and peace. Tesfamariam, who was a friend and colleague of Ghebreyesus's, is a lecturer at the African and Middle Eastern Languages Department at Stanford University and collects materials on the Horn of Africa for the Hoover Archives.
