How to Improve Our Schools in the Post-COVID Era | The 2021 Anthology

The Hoover Education Success Initiative fellows and the education leaders of the Practitioners Council have collaborated on the anthology How to Improve Our Schools in the Post-COVID Era, released in May 2021. The coronavirus pandemic disrupted the education of America’s 56 million public school students.  The impacts were significant for everybody but were worst for disadvantaged students. The consequence has been a widening of the previous inequalities among students in knowledge and skills. This volume explores how the needs and possibilities for improvement in vital policies and programs have changed since the start of the pandemic. It aims to set a course for better results for the country’s public schools; just returning to the schools of 2019 will leave the nation worse off. The future well-being of individuals, families, communities, and the nation will require changes in purpose and practice. The Hoover education scholars and the Practitioners Council with their unbridled commentary deliver clear options for discussion and debate.
