PP100-Exclusive Internship Opportunity

Through the National Security Affairs Fellows (NSAF) Mentorship Program, and with the generous support of Bob and Marion Oster, a limited number of paid, in-person internship opportunities are offered exclusively to current PP100 students and PP100 alumni. These opportunities are not open to the general student population.Designed to complement the academic and mentorship components of the NSAF program, these internships provide policy-relevant professional experience and reflect the program’s focus on national security, public service, and leadership development.

About the Position

The Eagle Institute serves as Air University’s hub for leadership development, cognitive readiness, and creative experimentation. In partnership with the Air University Innovation Accelerator (AUiX) and VECTOR faculty, the Institute designs and tests innovative learning environments for Professional Military Education (PME).The Innovation Intern will work with a cross-disciplinary team to support the design of creative learning experiences and interactive cognitive-performance tools. This role bridges neuroscience-informed learning, human-centered design, and emerging technologies to support leadership development and educational innovation.

About the Position

The Air University Innovation Accelerator (AUiX) is the focal point for research, experimentation, and strategic foresight within Air University. Working alongside the Center for Strategy and Technology (CSAT) and Blue Horizons, AUiX supports applied research that explores future conflict, emerging technologies, and strategic decision-making.

This internship places students in a think-tank-style environment within the U.S. Air Force’s intellectual ecosystem. Interns contribute to research and experimentation, connecting foresight, wargaming, and technology to future doctrine and defense strategy.

“At AUiX, I assisted the Squadron Officer School, LeMay Center, and Barnes Center at Maxwell Air Force Base with an effort to digitalize Professional Military Education tabletop wargaming and incorporate AI opponents for both officer and enlisted education, bridging my interests in national security and artificial intelligence. I also worked with the Air Command and Staff College to strengthen technical AI curriculum for Air Force officers, helping provide the technical expertise and context necessary for informed acquisitions and effective human-machine teaming. Through these projects, I had the opportunity to meet many talented officers and civilians focused on accelerating AI innovation and adoption across the Air Force, while gaining firsthand exposure to the institutional challenges involved in developing, funding, and deploying innovative ideas within the Department of War. Overall, my NSAF internship gave me an exceptional level of institutional exposure to the DoW and a much deeper understanding of how technological innovation moves from an idea to implementation within the national security enterprise. Interning at AUiX was an incredible learning experience that I would recommend to any past or present Stanford NSAF mentee interested in how innovation, bureaucracy, and national security intersect within the Air Force!”
