In a new book by Dongxian Jiang titled Why China Needs Democracy, the Assistant Professor at Fordham challenges the argument made by the Chinese Communist Party that the Chinese people cannot be prosperous under a liberal democracy.  This argument has special significance as the world observes the 37^th anniversary of the CCP’s massacre of its own citizens in Tiananmen.

Investigative journalists at the Financial Times have uncovered evidence that while the CCP’s genocide of Uyghur Muslims has adapted, the scope and scale of the crimes remains breathtaking as the CCP tries to erase other ethnic groups.
