Bill Evers, a research fellow at the Hoover Institution and a member of the Institution’s Koret Task Force on K–12 Education, will moderate a workshop on K–12 education at the California Republican Party convention workshop series on September 17, 2011. The workshop will discuss education issues in California, including testing and accountability, curriculum, charter schools and open enrollment, and teachers’ unions. The presenters will include Bill Lucia, president and CEO of the EdVoice advocacy group; Ben Boychuk, associate editor of Manhattan Institute’s City Journal, California edition; Ben Chavis, adviser and former principal of the American Indian Public Charter School in Oakland; Lisa Snell, director of Education and Welfare Studies at the Reason Foundation; and Brian Nestande, Republican California state assemblyman.
