    Short Bio

    Janet Tran is director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, overseeing over 60 million records and 85,000 artifacts. Previously, she was founding director of the Center for Civics, Education, and Opportunity, where she developed national civic learning programs. A former teacher-leader, she holds degrees from UCLA and CSU Northridge and a doctorate from Pepperdine University.

Janet Tran is director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum within the National Archives and Records Administration, where she stewards history by preserving, protecting, and sharing over 60 million presidential records and more than 85,000 artifacts at the most visited presidential library in the country.

Prior to her current role, Tran was the founding director of the Center for Civics, Education, and Opportunity at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute in Washington, DC. Joining the foundation in 2010, she designed and expanded a national civic learning portfolio, including immersive simulations, educator training, and student leadership programs that reach hundreds of thousands of learners annually and award over $1 million in scholarships each year.

In 2015, she helped establish the Reagan Institute’s Washington, DC, office, launching an accredited experiential university leadership program, currently the Academy for Civics Education and Democracy. She founded the Reagan Institute Summit on Education, a bipartisan national convening addressing polarization, civic learning, and the future of education.

Tran began her career as a teacher-leader in South Los Angeles. She holds a BA from UCLA, an MA from California State University, Northridge, and a doctorate in education from Pepperdine University.
