About

Nancy R. Xu is a visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution and an associate professor of finance at Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. She is also a J. M. Keynes Fellow, a Cambridge Endowment for Research in Finance Fellow, and a research affiliate of the Centre for Economic Policy Research.

Her research lies at the intersection of asset pricing, macro-finance, and political economy. She studies how government institutions, fiscal and monetary policies, and political incentives shape financial market perceptions and corporate decisions. A central theme of her work is that financial markets respond not only to economic fundamentals but also to the institutional processes through which public policy is formulated, implemented, and communicated. Xu also conducts research on risk appetite, economic uncertainty, and the global transmission of economic and policy risk. Her work has been published in the Journal of Financial Economics and Management Science, including two articles selected as editors’ choice.

Before joining Cambridge, Xu was an assistant professor of finance at Boston College. She has served as a research consultant to the European Central Bank and held research positions at the Federal Reserve Banks of New York and Boston.

Xu received her PhD in finance and economics from Columbia University and her BS in statistics from the University of Washington.
