Area 45: The North Korean Conundrum

The 9/11 attacks on the US were 25 years ago this week and, while there hasn’t been a second such shock, questions remain as to the Free World’s preparedness, whether a divided America can rediscover unity, and the strength of international alliances. Phillip Zelikow, the Hoover Institution’s Botha-Chan senior fellow and executive director of the 9/11 Commission, discusses lessons learned from the attack.

I predicted its decline 25 years ago. Today, the U.S. has serious problems, but our rivals have even bigger ones.

Tomorrow we commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Al Qaeda mass atrocity committed against our nation which resulted in the deaths of nearly three thousand innocents. We should remember and mourn the loss of those who died at the hands of modern-day barbarians, express support for the loved ones they left behind, celebrate the heroism of the first responders, and express gratitude for those servicemen and women who took the fight to jihadist terrorist organizations abroad and thereby prevented more attacks and human suffering.
