Commander Bart D’Angelo, representing the U.S. Navy, is a National Security Affairs Fellow for the academic year 2022-23 at the Hoover Institution.

Commander D’Angelo was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. He received his undergraduate degree and Naval commissioning at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY.

CDR D’Angelo is an Intelligence Officer with afloat tours aboard multiple aircraft carriers. He has served ashore with submarines, maritime patrol aircraft, Pacific Fleet Headquarters, the Defense Intelligence Agency and NORAD/U.S. Northern Command. Most recently Bart served as Deputy for Intelligence on the U.S. SEVENTH Fleet Staff in Yokosuka, Japan.

CDR D’Angelo has an MBA from Naval Post Graduate School and a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. His awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal, as well as multiple unit and service awards.
