Nick Mastronardi is a Veteran Fellow at the Hoover Institution and was a member of the first cohort (2021–22).

Nick Mastronardi is a public servant, academic, and software technology company CEO. Before founding and serving as the CEO of both Polco and National Research Center, he was a senior economist at Amazon and served in the same role in the White House on the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. He served ten years as an active-duty Air Force officer, including time on the faculty at the Air Force Academy, in the Office of the Secretary of Defense in the Pentagon, and as a research physicist and advanced munitions technology program manager at the Air Force Research Lab. He holds undergraduate degrees in honors math and physics from the University of Notre Dame and a PhD in economics from the University of Texas at Austin, where his dissertation focused on game theory and econometrics applied to public finance. At Polco and National Research Center, Mastronardi leads a team of talented technologists building software that enhances public sector communications and data-driven performance management in governments to improve resident quality of life. He and his team work with hundreds of cities across forty states. He lives with his family in Middleton, Wisconsin.
