Transatlantic Perspectives

This team is working with a number of European partners, including the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and Ax:son Johnson Institute. It involves a series of workshops (initially in Berlin and London) and commissioned papers addressing critical choices in the transatlantic community in three areas - technology, the economy, and security. It will engage senior political figures, senior government officials, experts, and opinion formers. Its work plan will be closely connected to the other activities under the A New International Order in the Digital Age team.

East Asian Perspectives

China's Reimagined World Order

This team explores Xi Jinping's ambition to transform the international system and China's place within it. It will analyze the strategies China is deploying to realize this ambition and assess the structural constraints as well as opportunities that will shape Beijing's prospects for success.

Mexico and a North American Economic and Security Commons

This team examines how alternative policy paths—ranging from partial disintegration to renewed integration—could affect the economies of both the U.S. and Mexico and shape regional security outcomes. While centered on the U.S.–Mexico relationship, this team incorporates Canadian perspectives to ensure that these issues are evaluated within the context of North America as an integrated economic and security region.

The View from India

After decades of stagnation, India is rapidly advancing economically, technologically, and militarily. Yet India is confronting a range of challenges as it progresses. In dealing with these challenges, will India continue to deepen its integration with the United States and the West? Or will it chart another course? The purpose of this team is to identify what kind of partner India is likely to become.

Global Prosperity and Human Development

The goal of this team is to conduct and disseminate evidence-based research on the institutions, policies, and regulations that foster economic prosperity amid today’s public policy challenges. We do this by bringing together scholars, policy makers, and business leaders to debate and discuss the inferences that can be drawn from empirical research about both developed and developing economies.
