About the Teams

Human Empowerment in the Age of AI

As AI systems grow more powerful, the central question is whether they will augment human agency or displace it, and whether economic and political power will be widely distributed or will concentrate in the hands of those who control the technology. This team will develop the research agenda for a positive vision of keeping humans in control of AI. It will identify the policies, institutions, and design choices most critical to preserving individual freedom and collective self-government in an AI-driven economy.

Energy and the Environment

This team will articulate a vision for the United States energy and technology stack in support of partner energy security, affordability, and sustainability; this would stand as a positive vision for US leadership and pragmatic partner energy and environmental aspirations in place of the arguably no-longer fit-for-purpose United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), from which the United States has already registered intent to withdraw. In short, “abundance at home, security and choice abroad.”
