The Perfect Pitch: Baseball And Hoover Sound Recordings

Just in time for the opening of the baseball season, sound recordings of speeches by legendary baseball managers, executives, and journalists from Hoover’s Commonwealth Club of California collection are now digitized and available to researchers. The collection features such heavy hitters as Bob Lurie, Tony La Russa, Dusty Baker, and Billy Beane.

Hoover Library & Archives is pleased to announce that two newly digitized collections related to the Vietnam War are now available online through Hoover’s digital collections portal. Hoover now has a total of 1219 Vietnam-related materials online.

Partner Institutions And Volunteers Describe Hundreds Of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Broadcasts For The Hoover Archives

The Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Historical Recording Description Project, a hybrid effort whereby crowdsourcing augments established agreements with partner institutions, produced its 500th description this week. The project, which soft-launched in January 2016, seeks to provide English-language content summaries for over 5,500 (and counting!) digitized radio broadcasts from the RFE/RL collections.

New Digital Portal Makes Thousands Of Hoover’s Rare Materials Available Online

The Hoover Institution Library & Archives is pleased to announce the launch of a new digital collections portal that contains more than 55,000 digitized posters, photographs, documents, sound recordings, and moving images from Hoover collections, with new items frequently added. The portal will allow remote users from around the globe to access the rich collections at Hoover for research and educational purposes.

Full-Length Firing Line Videos Now Available Online

For the first time since acquiring the collection in 2001, the Hoover Institution Library & Archives is hosting, free-of-charge, full-length Firing Line videos online through its digital collections website and YouTube channel. With a roster of guests including Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Milton Friedman, Groucho Marx, Tom Wolfe, Jack Kerouac, Woodward and Bernstein, Barry Goldwater, Joan Baez, Hugh Hefner, and others, Firing Line serves as one of the most important and complete records of political and cultural movements in twentieth-century America.
