Sound Recordings in the Mont Pèlerin Society Records Digitized

More than fifty audiotapes in the records of the Mont Pèlerin Society, an international organization of laissez-faire economists, have been digitized for preservation and access by Hoover's audio lab. Many of the tapes contain proceedings of four of the society's meetings, held from 1956 to 1960. The 1958 meeting, in Princeton, New Jersey, featured Friedrich A. von Hayek, Milton Friedman, Ludwig von Mises, William H. Hutt, and other economists discussing the welfare state, agricultural economics, inflation, and monetary policy.

More than twenty-five audiotapes from the papers of Barbara Nawratowicz have been digitized for preservation and access by Hoover's audio lab. Nawratowicz was the music director of Radio Free Europe's Polish service; the recordings comprise both spoken-word and musical genres. Many of the recordings are undated; those with dates range from 1952 to 1991.

Hoover Archives’ Polish Collections digitized

The bulk of Hoover Archives’ World War II–era Polish archival collections has been digitized and made available online by Poland’s National Digital Archives (Narodowe Archiwum Cyfrowe).  The digitized copies were made from the 1,599 reels of microfilm donated by Hoover to Poland a decade ago.  More than one and half million pages of Hoover documents can now be accessed on the NDA website www.szukajwarchiwach.pl.   The website is linked to the Hoover Library and Archives site and to the Online Archive of California, providing online access to Hoover finding aids.

Westerners have been intrigued by the Kaifeng Jews since the 1600s. A set of sound recordings of interviews with Chinese Jews, recorded in Kaifeng, China, in 1985, has just been digitized by the Hoover Archives.

One hundred years ago the office in charge of editing Russia's state papers created a unique album, depicting as it does many of the guests at a costume ball at the Winter Palace in February 1903 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of St. Petersburg. Three hundred and ninety people attended, including sixty guardsmen. It was to be the last imperial ball in Russian history.
