Many of the Panamanian collections concern relations between the United States and Panama, particularly US control of the Panama Canal. Others relate to the authoritarian rule of Manuel Noriega, the 1989 US invasion that led to his capture, and his subsequent trial in the United States. A few collections contain general materials on Panamanian politics.
