A new exhibition, Unpacking History: New Collections at the Hoover Institution Library & Archives, celebrates the variety, geographic range, and historical significance of Hoover’s holdings by featuring rare and intriguing items from select collections acquired in recent years. Among the items on display are partisan journals from Afghanistan; propaganda leaflets disseminated during the Korean War; photographs by Chinese Communist Red Army photojournalist Sha Fei; the papers of an American housewife turned anti-communist author and celebrity; works by Nobel Laureate Joseph Brodksy; and ephemeral material from the 2014 armed conflict in Ukraine. Come and explore these new acquisitions to learn how Hoover documents social, political, and economic change around the world.

Unpacking History: New Collections at the Hoover Institution Library & Archives opens Tuesday, September 27, 2016, and runs through February 25, 2017. The exhibition is open to the public, free of charge, Tuesday–Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Herbert Hoover Memorial Exhibit Pavilion (next to Hoover Tower) on the Stanford University campus. Parking on campus is free on Saturdays. For directions and parking, click here.

The exhibition will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 through Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 in observance of the Stanford Winter Closure.
