Reading Room Services

Research Assistance

The Hoover Institution Library & Archives provides limited research assistance (up to one hour) for those researchers unable to visit our reading room in person.

Request research assistance via an email to hoover-library-archives [at] or by submitting a ServiceNow ticket if you need:

  • Detailed research conducted within a collection
  • Assistance in selecting material

Low-Resolution Reference Scanning

The Hoover Institution Library & Archives is able to scan a limited amount of material free of charge in response to reference inquiries.

We would ask that you submit a low-resolution duplication order via Aeon, our online registration and request system, in order to allow for better tracking and delivery of your request.

If you do not have one already, you will first need to create an account with Aeon.

Once you have created an account, please follow these steps to submit a duplication order (note that Aeon is optimized for Firefox and Internet Explorer, so we recommend using one of these as your browser for this process; also, please be aware that the system will time out after 10 minutes)

Staff may contact you if there are questions about your order or the prioritization of your requests. Requests will be filled in the order they are received.

Duplication Orders

The Hoover Institution Library & Archives offers duplication services, for a fee.

Submit a duplication order if you need:

  • A high resolution scan for a publication or exhibit
  • A high resolution digital file of audiovisual material for use in a production
  • A low resolution digital file of audiovisual material that has not yet been reformatted for personal or research use
  • A copy of library microfilm

Advance payment by credit card in U.S. funds is required, and requests are filled in the order in which payment is received. Please allow two to eight weeks for processing. All duplication requests should be made through Aeon.
