Joseph Abraham Mendenhall papers, 1927–2011
The correspondence, speeches, and printed matter in this collection relate to US foreign relations and the Vietnam War. Mendenhall, a Foreign Service officer who specialized in Southeast Asian affairs, was on the ground in Vietnam and Laos in the 1960s and was intimately involved in the formulation and execution of foreign policy in the area.

Samuel Sloan Walker papers, 1951–60
In the 1950s, Walker was vice president of the Free Europe Committee (FEC), which promoted opposition to the communist regimes of Eastern Europe. His correspondence, memoranda, and printed matter relate to FEC activities.

Arseniĭ Ivanovich Formakov papers, 1913–83
This collection of correspondence, memoirs, and photographs relates to conditions in Soviet forced labor camps, where Formakov was imprisoned from 1940 to 1955.

Philip H. Chadbourn papers, 1915–29
Chadbourn’s letters, reports, and photographs relate to his work for the Commission for Relief in Belgium during World War I.
