Hoover Institution Associate Archivist Bradley Bauer chaired the session “Ethnic Archives: Collecting within Cultural Contexts” at the annual meeting of the Society of American Archivists held in San Francisco in August 2008. The session examined the challenges associated with soliciting archival collections from individuals and organizations, specifically, when collecting in ethnic communities.

The Society of American Archivists is North America's oldest and largest national archival professional association. Its mission is to serve the educational and informational needs of more than 5,000 individual and institutional members and to provide leadership to ensure the identification, preservation, and use of records of historical value.
