The Hoover Library & Archives hosted a special event on December 17, 2019, to discuss the life and legacy of Chiang Ching-kuo and to announce the opening of his diaries at Hoover in February 2020. Chiang Ching-kuo was the son of Chiang Kai-shek and his political heir as leader of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Iakov Markovich Lisovoi (1882–1965) was a colonel on the general staff of the Russian Imperial Army, as well as a collector who amassed an enormous volume of materials on revolutionary Russia, which formed the basis for his traveling exhibits and lecture series in the 1920s and 1930s. He named his private collection the “Museum of Contemporary Events in Russia.”

The Hoover Institution, the Academia Historica of Taiwan, Ms. Yo-mei Chiang and the family of Mr. Hsiao-yen Chiang are pleased to announce that Hoover is making available for scholars copies of the personal diaries (covering the period 1937 to 1979) of Chiang Ching-kuo, President of the Republic of China between 1978 and 1988.

The Hoover Institution has acquired the papers of Major General Harry Lorenzo Gilchrist (1870–1943). Born in Waterloo, Iowa (also the birthplace of Lou Henry Hoover in 1874), Gilchrist graduated from the Medical Department of Western Reserve University (today's Case Western) in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.

Hoover Library & Archives recently acquired the personal papers of Tang Zhenchang (1922–2002), a celebrated intellectual whose areas of interest encompassed history, journalism, cinema, screenwriting, and literature. Born in Chengdu, in the Sichuan Province of China, Tang graduated from Yenching University, China’s preeminent Christian university in the modern era.
