About the institution:
The National Archives of Latvia accumulate and store the records with archival value, provide accessibility of these records, supervise the observance of records management in the institutions and in the accredited private archives, accredits private archives and performs the other functions specified in Archives Law. The State Film, Sound and Image Archives of Latvia is part of The National Archives of Latvia from 2011. The State Film, Sound and Image Archives of Latvia stores audiovisual, photo and sound documents which are linked with Latvian social, political and cultural history.

Fond of Radio Free Europe – sound documents
The sound archives of Radio Free Europe are comprised of 777 magnetic tapes, audio cassettes, CDs and mini CDs. The documents contain captures of interviews, speeches, literary readings, phone calls, historical events etc. between Latvians in exile and in Latvia that were broadcasted to the audiences in the Soviet Union.

Includes 128 photo documents related to RFE Riga’s editorial office work.
