Hoover is partnering with the Library of Congress, the U.S. National Archives and the Wilson Center to create a network of core institutions about which a Cold War Communication Project will be based. The Radio Preservation Task Force describes the project as “Representatives from over 15 universities (and growing)…exploring the history of federal and international radio recordings.” In particular, “public service announcements, propaganda broadcasts, refugee radio, and documentaries.” Increasing awareness, discoverability and access to Cold War communication materials is the goal of the project which includes symposia, publishing opportunities and a web portal among its initiatives. Hoover’s Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty collections stand to figure prominently.
