A bipartisan Taiwanese legislative delegation visited Hoover on Friday, July 12, 2013, as part of a diplomatic tour of the United States. The delegation included legislators Lin Yu-fang, Chen Tan-sun, Chan Kai-chin, and Wang Yu-min and officials from Taiwan’s foreign and defense ministries. Accompanied by Bruce Fuh, director-general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco, the delegation met and exchanged views on US-Taiwan relations with Hoover fellows Jeff Jones, Henry Rowen, Bill Ratliff, Lanhee Chen, Tai-chun Kuo, and Hsiao-ting Lin. They also met with Eric Wakin, an associate director and the director of the library and archives, who introduced Hoover’s unique archival collections and its collecting philosophy to the visitors. Hsiao-ting Lin, curator of the East Asian Collection, displayed some historical treasures to the delegation, including the Chiang Kai-shek diaries; the personal papers of Sun Yat-sen; T.V. Soong; Wang Sheng; Tian Chaoming; and rare photos from Hoover’s Taiwan Pictorial Collection.
