Finding aids to the Polish collections described below are now available through the Online Archive of California.
This collection contains photocopies of Polish government and communist party documents, minutes, bulletins, reports, circulated material, and printed matter, relating to political conditions and secret service activities in Poland during the communist era.
These records include minutes, correspondence, reports, and memoranda from the Central Committee of the Polish communist party relating to internal politics in Poland and to Polish foreign and domestic policy.
Ministerstwo Spraw Wewnętrznych Issuances
These reports and bulletins relate to Polish politics and government, the German and Soviet occupations of Poland, and the Polish underground movement during World War II. Also included are studies prepared by the Ministries of National Defense and Military Affairs.
This collection is comprised of Piecuch’s research materials for his various books as well as his published and unpublished writings. His research materials span from 1920 to 2012 and focus on Polish communist intelligence and counterintelligence efforts.
Podgórski's papers document his various roles as a journalist, political activist, member of the PPS (Polska Partia Socjalistyczna), and editor at Radio Free Europe in Munich. The collection is composed of correspondence, photographs, Polish émigré affairs documents, PPS administrative records, Radio Free Europe documents, and writings by Podgórski and some of his colleagues.
Polskie Siły Zbrojne, Armia Polska na Wschodzie Issuances
The Armia Polska na Wschodzie (Polish Army in the East) was created on September 12th, 1942 and led by General Władysław Anders. The issuances in this collection include military manuals created by the British, German, and Soviet armed forces and translated into Polish. The manuals reflect a variety of topics, including chemical weapons, soldier welfare, infantry, combat engineering, supply services, topography, and transport.
Polskie Sily Zbrojne Miscellaneous Records
These records from 1940 to 1945 document the activities of the Polish Armed Forces (Polskie Sily Zbrojne) in eastern Europe and the Middle East and relations with Soviet military command.
The collection of this Polish, Canadian, and Belarusian journalist is highly eclectic and primarily composed of materials documenting various elections from the 1950s to 1980s. Also included are materials from Pruszyński’s work as an agent for the Polish security service to his time as an anti-communist activist in Canada.
