Lietuvos SSR Valstybes Saugumo Komitetas selected records, 1940–91
This collection includes microfilm of reports, memoranda, correspondence, and other records of the Lithuanian branch of the Soviet secret police organization Komitet gosudarstvennoĭ bezopasnosti (KGB). The records relate to secret police, intelligence and counterintelligence activities; dissident and anti-Soviet activities; and repatriation and nationalism issues in Lithuania. The original records are held by the Lietuvos Ypatingasis Archyvas (Lithuanian special archives) in Vilnius.
William X. Scheinman papers, 1952–99
Scheinman was president of the African American Students Foundation and director of the American Committee on Africa. His papers contain correspondence and other writings, reports, photographs, sound recordings, videotapes, and motion pictures that relate to U.S. relations with Africa, the political and economic development of Kenya and other African countries, and assistance to African students in the United States, especially to the Kenyan political leader Tom Mboya. Correspondence with, writings by, and interviews of Mboya are included.
Kaarel Robert Pusta papers, 1918–64
The correspondence, speeches and writings, reports, and photographs in this collection relate to Estonian politics and diplomacy, Soviet–Baltic states’ relations, the League of Nations, international law, and Estonian émigré politics. Pusta, an Estonian diplomat, served as foreign minister of Estonia from 1924 to 1925.
American Council on Education (ACE) records, 1918–2007
The ACE is a nonprofit organization that promotes higher education in the United States. Descriptions of many of its recent records (created since 1970), were recently added to the finding aid. The records relate to higher education in the United States, governmental educational policy, promotion of international education, and U.S. assistance to foreign institutions of higher learning.
