In “Can Democracy Reach the Poor? A Presidential Perspective on Education, Poverty, and Democracy in Latin America,” former president of Peru Alejandro Toledo, a Hoover Institution distinguished visiting fellow, and Larry Diamond, a Hoover senior fellow and coeditor of the Journal of Democracy, will explore the effectiveness of political democracy.

The event, free and open to the public, takes place Tuesday, October 16, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Cubberly Auditorium, School of Education, 485 Lasuen Mall, Stanford University. A reception is to follow. No RSVP is needed.

The event is part of the Cubberly Lecture Series hosted by the School of Education at Stanford University.
