Mark Dincecco was the 2016-17 Edward Teller National Fellow at the Hoover Institution. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan. His current research tests the long-run relationships between military conflicts, state formation and capacity, and economic and political development. He is the author of Political Transformations and Public Finances: Europe, 1650-1913 (Cambridge University Press) and numerous peer-reviewed journal articles. His second book, From Warfare to Wealth: The Military Origins of Urban Prosperity in Europe, is under contract with Cambridge University Press.
