Krishna Sharma is a research fellow with the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. His research focuses on entrepreneurship, innovation, and migration in emerging and local economies. Sharma examines how immigration policies, such as those in the U.S., impact both sending and host nations, fostering innovation, human capital development, and economic growth. He also explores how entrepreneurship and innovation policies can drive economic growth and sustainable development.

Sharma’s expertise extends to monetary economics, machine learning applications in economics, and development economics, with a particular focus on the role of institutions in shaping local economic outcomes. Before joining Hoover, he worked as a research consultant at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, contributing to policy research and public finance evaluations. He has also collaborated with international organizations, such as the World Bank and the United Nations, analyzing socioeconomic policies, climate resilience, and the relationship between subjective well-being and income.

Sharma holds a PhD in economics from Clemson University and a master’s degree in economics from South Asian University, New Delhi. He is a fellow at the Reshaping Work Fellowship, where he focuses on how AI is reshaping job roles and restructuring labor markets, as well as assessing evolving skills requirements and policies to address AI-induced skills gaps, with an emphasis on promoting inclusivity, including gender and youth representation. Additionally, he is an affiliate researcher with the National Examinations Board, Government of Nepal.
