Abstract: What is AI slop, and what does its emergence mean for information ecosystems? These proceedings from a March 2026 convening held by Columbia University bring together perspectives from experts and practitioners and provide a systematic overview of the phenomenon of AI slop along with a proposed research agenda. The research agenda is designed to assess the significance of AI slop and, when its effects are negative, to identify measures to protect the health of information ecosystems and democracy
