Dan Kim is a C-suite executive and economist operating at the nexus of technology, national security, and global industrial policy. He currently serves as the chief strategy officer at TechInsights, the world’s leading provider of market intelligence for the semiconductor and related industries. In this role, he leads the firm's strategic initiatives, focusing on the rapid evolution of AI hardware markets and their implications for global supply chains.

Before joining the private sector, Kim served as a high-level official in the US government. He was the chief economist and director of strategic planning and economic security for the CHIPS Program Office at the US Department of Commerce, where he played a pivotal role in strategy development and implementation of the CHIPS and Science Act—a landmark initiative designed to revitalize domestic semiconductor manufacturing and safeguard economic and national security. His public service career also includes tenure as senior economist for the International Trade Commission, where he oversaw the commission's research related to competitiveness of US industries for the Executive Office of the President and congressional committees.

In the private sector, Kim previously held a senior leadership position as the chief economist for SK Hynix, one of the world's largest memory manufacturers, and as director of economic strategy at Qualcomm. This combination of deep industry experience and senior government service provides him with a unique perspective on market dynamics and geopolitical frameworks governing critical technologies.

Kim holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge. His current research as a visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution focuses on the geopolitics of critical supply chains and the design of multipolar policy efforts to ensure semiconductor supply resilience.
