Hoover Institution Director to Retire in 2020

Thomas W. Gilligan will be retiring as the director of the Hoover Institution at the end of his current term, in August 2020. The Hoover Institution bylaws outline the director search process, including the selection of a 10-member committee made up of Hoover Board of Overseers members, Hoover senior fellows, and members of the Stanford community to conduct a nationwide search for Gilligan’s successor. A new director is expected to be in place by the beginning of the 2020-21 academic year.
