Hoover Institution fellow Russell Roberts presented testimony on job creation before the Joint Economic Committee on Thursday, December 10, 2009.

Chaired by Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney (D-NY), the hearing, entitled “The Challenge of Creating Jobs in the Aftermath of the ‘Great Recession,’” convened to examine proposals to boost job creation in the private sector. Coming on the heels of President Obama’s jobs summit, and last week’s strong employment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Maloney and other members of the committee heard testimony from Professor Roberts as well as Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, former Hoover senior fellow and chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers under President Clinton.

Roberts’ testimony is available for PDF download here, and the full committee hearing can be viewed as a video webcast at www.jec.senate.gov/.

Russell Roberts is a research fellow at the Hoover Institution and a professor of economics and the J. Fish and Lillian F. Smith Distinguished Scholar at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
