Vladimir Mau, Rector of Russia’s Academy of the National Economy

Vladimir Mau, rector of the Academy of the National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation and an economic adviser to Russian president Dmitry Medvedev, met with Hoover fellows on Thursday, June 24.

In the hour-long meeting, topics discussed included education, health care, social welfare, and investment and economic reform in Russia. Meeting with Mau were John Raisian, the Tad and Dianne Taube Director of the Hoover Institution; Richard Sousa, director of the library and archives at Hoover; Edward Lazear, the Morris Arnold Cox Senior Fellow at Hoover; and Hoover fellows Paul Gregory, R. Daniel McMichael, Norman Naimark, and Robert Service.

Mau was a member of the delegation accompanying Medvedev as he toured Silicon Valley to explore ways to boost their country's technological production. The Russian president gave a speech at Stanford University on Wednesday, June 23, before flying to Washington, D.C., to meet with President Obama and then on to meet with world leaders for the G-8 and G-20 meetings in Canada beginning Friday, June 25.
