The Hoover Institution hosted a symposium titled "Will Iran Be the Next Iraq?" to discuss the prospects of democracy in Iran. The symposium took place March 15 in Washington, D.C.

The panelists examined different aspects of the democratic process as follows:

  • Abbas Milani, Hoover research fellow, "Iran's Democratic Movement: Dead or Alive?"
  • Ellen Laipson, president of the Henry L. Stimson Center, "Democracy in Iran: U.S. Options and Role"
  • Michael McFaul, Hoover senior fellow, "Transition to Democracy: A Comparative Perspective"
  • Larry Diamond, Hoover senior fellow, chaired the panel.

The symposium is part of the Iran Democracy Project at the Hoover Institution.
