Republic of Korea consul general Lee Jeong Gwan met with John Raisian, the Tad and Dianne Taube Director of the Hoover Institution, on Wednesday, November 17. Director Raisian and the consul general discussed Hoover’s research projects related to Korea and the Institution’s Korean archival holdings. In addition, Mr. Lee presented Director Raisian with a plaque from the Korean Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in appreciation for Hoover’s assistance in providing material from the Hoover Archives regarding Korean independence activist Ahn Joong-geun’s life and incarceration.

Jack K. C. Chiang, director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco, visited Hoover on Tuesday, November 16. Meeting with Director Raisian, Mr. Chiang discussed political and economic issues in the United States and China and their implications for each country.

Following each meeting, Mr. Lee and Mr. Chiang toured the Hoover Library and Archives and were shown material from their respective countries by Curators Hsiao-ting Lin and Lisa Nguyen. Both Consul General Lee and Director General Chiang were appointed to their positions earlier this year.
