The deadline for applications to the Hoover IP² Summer Institute on the Economics and Politics of Innovation is approaching. Applications must be received by Monday, January 22, 2018, for the 2018 session, which runs from August 5 through August 17, 2018.

The institute is an intensive two-week program designed to teach budding policy makers how to apply evidence and scientific reasoning to writing legislation, creating regulations, evaluating claims, and adjudicating disputes that arise relating to innovation, regulation, and property rights.

Class size is limited to twenty-two. The program is open to advanced graduate students and recent graduates of programs in public policy and the social sciences, law schools, and business schools. Judicial clerks, government staff members, and young professionals and attorneys are also invited to apply.

Professor Victor Menaldo from the University of Washington, one of the program’s core instructors, said the program offers an “experience unforgettable for both students and instructors” and that it is a program “that is welcoming, that values deep learning, and that challenges its participants to question their assumptions and collectively push the limits of knowledge about the politics and economics of innovation and regulation.”

To learn more go to the Hoover IP² web page, where the online application is available.
