Ken Meifert, senior director of development at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, hosted by Hoover overseer Lew Davies and associate director Don Meyer, visited the Hoover Institution on April 13, 2011, where they met with Hoover archivist Brad Bauer for a tour of the Hoover Institution Library and Archives. Bauer showcased a number of unique artifacts and documents from the collections of the Hoover Institution Archives, including a number related to the history of baseball, ranging from a 1902 photograph of Stanford's first president, David Starr Jordan, playing baseball with Stanford students outside Encina Hall to a letter from baseball great Jackie Robinson to Kenyan political leader Tom Mboya in 1959. In the afternoon, Meifert toured the departments in the Hoover Library and Archives that preserve, film, and reformat paper and audiovisual archival holdings. See related slide show.
