Carmen M. Allison serves as the chief of human resources at the Hoover Institution. With a dedicated team, she oversees all aspects of the Institution’s people strategy, including succession planning, talent development, compensation, recruiting, organizational design, performance management, and HR administration. She has over thirty-six years of experience in human resources, including six years at the Hoover Institution. Allison has held leadership roles at PepsiCo/YumBrands, Gap Inc., and Williams Sonoma, where she was the senior vice president of human resources for the Pottery Barn brands and global sourcing. Her educational background includes a BS in business from Northern Arizona University, an MBA, and a doctorate in education from the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a certified executive coach from Columbia University and an agile scrum practitioner. Allison’s rich background extends to military service. She is a US Army veteran who served in Fort Bliss, Texas; Taegu, Korea; and at West Point Military Academy during Operation Desert Storm. She currently resides in San Francisco with her family.
