Matt Richmond

Biography: 

Matt Richmond is a research analyst at the Thomas B. Fordham Institute. Matt’s work incorporates an even mix of quantitative and qualitative methods, primarily on special education and school staffing patterns. Recently, his interests have included the Institute’s “pathways out of poverty” project and issues of framing in the education-policy space. Matt also manages the EEPS program, report production, and occasionally helps out with graphic design (not to mention lead vocals).

Prior to joining Fordham, Matt spent time at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); as a counselor for the Autism Society of North Carolina; and helped to establish a school and microfinance initiative in Nairobi, Kenya. Matt holds a master’s degree in international development and environmental sustainability from the University of Pittsburgh (GSPIA) and bachelor’s degrees in political science and economics from the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill.

As one might expect, he has very strong feelings about up-tempo, transition offense. And while he never plays basketball, he does play music whenever possible.
