"The Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace takes pride in publishing the fourth and final volume of A Catalog of Files and Microfilms of the German Foreign Ministry Archives, 1920-1945 and thus completing a cooperative publication venture with the U.S. Department of State.

"The availability of new materials, specifically the files from various German missions and consulates in Europe as well as from some of the overseas offices, necessitated publication of this additional volume. The documents listed here supplement and complement the files of the political archives at the German Foreign Ministry (Politisches Archiv des Auswartigen Amtes) for the period 1920-1945.

"Members of the scholarly community who are interested in recent German and European history again owe a great debt to Dr. George O. Kent, not only for his painstaking work in compiling this last volume but for the unflagging enthusiasm and perseverance he brought to the ten-year task of preparing al four volumes of this superb reference tool."
